During an emotional ceremony on 21st August ’09, Mr. Quentin Aublin and Consul General Mr. Jean-Pierre Thébault officially named the Consulate’s reception hall for French citizens as "Salle Laurent Aublin" after Mr. Laurent Aublin who passed away last July. Mr. Aublin served as Consul General of France in Hong Kong from 1992 to 1996. He founded 18 years ago what is today’s Asia’s largest French Arts Festival Le French May.

The Paris International Agricultural Show was being held from 21 February to 1 March 2009 at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre in Paris. This year, the main theme for this important event was sustainable agriculture. For the third year running, the international Tech for Food forum was part of the Show, shedding light on the numerous initiatives incorporating new technologies to support agricultural development and food security in developing countries. India was the guest of honour for the 2009 Tech for Food event, which took place on Wednesday 25 February.

Hong Kong is the No. 1 Asian city where comprises most of the European, with around 50,000 EU citizens and certain thousands of tourists or passengers per year. Therefore, the local EU Presidency shows their concerns on the democratisation in Hong Kong by a declaration in January 2008 and to illustrate the unity of Union in respect and diversity.
